Floored is a documentary movie about the Chicago futures trading pits. This is a brilliantly done documentary that focuses on the lives of traders who go in daily to do battle on the trading floor, risking their personal wealth, making or losing ten's of thousands of dollars a day. This documentary provides a fascinating insight into trading, traders, and the futures markets. It also gives a background on what futures contracts are, and how they came about, and of course, how people make money buying and selling at the exchange. Of course it also looks closely at the shift from "open outcry" (the trading pits), to electronic, computer trading, and computer driven trading (e.g. algorithmic/quant trading, which almost takes the human element entirely out of it). Indeed, these days most markets are electronic. This is truly a must watch video for anyone with an interest in trading, or anyone who wants to know more about what goes on in the trading pits.

A world that's more riot than profession, the trading floors of Chicago are a place where gambling your family's mortgage is all in a day's work. Floored offers a unique window to this lesser-known world of finance. These men may not have degrees, but they've got guts, and penchant for excess that solicits simultaneous feelings of revulsion and admiration. But like many aspects of our economy, technology is changing the way these traders do business, and these eccentric pit denizens aren't the type to take kindly to new tricks.Episode 1
